Soil Lab was the Danish contribution to the Chicago Architecture Biennial 2021. The project provided an experimental laboratory that employed the collaborative methodology of the Biennial’s theme, The Available City. The project sought to contribute to an ongoing process of transforming vacant lots into community assets through two initiatives: the making of structures out of bricks, rammed earth, and ceramic tiles; and the construction of spaces for communal gathering.
